Planning for the Change

Today I vistited the beach around 10:00 this morning. I met with Mrs. Zully Hemyer, Mr. Charlie Phinizy, and Roland A. Rodriguez and his co worker. The meeting was to discuss the future of the beach. After gaining a permit to make an extra evacuation route some of the beach will be dug up for a padding system of some sort. The beach that is dug up wil be placed 8 feet behind the powerpoles and create a burm. Our plan at the moment is to salvage as many of the plants we can and when the burm is placed to plant those plants on top where they can grow.

Yet another day at the beach

After Myself and Troop 914 returned from our trip to Dry Tortugas, we thought it would be a good idea to stop at the beach and weed more giving the scouts an hour of service and giving the beach some more attention. The weeding was very successful and the plants underneith where once again familar with sunlight. I thanked all the boy scouts and told them exactly what they did and why it's important, I am really pround of the work they helped put into it. However their is some bad news. Recently D.O.T as been permitted to placed thier extra roadway along side the beach. What this will do is mave a large amount of sand on top of the allready planted plants. At the present moment I have no idea what the action will be. If we move the plants they will have less chances to survive. If the plants are left they will will allmost deffenitly be destroyed. I am meeting with somone on thursday to discuss the plans. I will make another entry then about the updated project.
