June 15, 2007: Me and my family took three trays of plants down to the beach to replace the sea oats damaged in the process of shipping. All the plants where planted successfully on the beach.

Boy Scout Jonathan
To earn his Eagle scout award, the highest scouting award, Jonathan plans to enlist friends to help plant 3,000 sea oats at this beach in Islamorada to save turtles.
Turtle Hatchling
Because Sea Oats Beach is so close to U.S. 1 in Islamorada hatchlings like this one can be drawn to man-made light and crawl into traffic. The sea oats restoration will help block the light and allow the hundreds of turtles that hatch here each year to return safely to the ocean.
Boy Scouts Protect Turtles
Last year, members of Boy Scout Trooop 914 built this temporary fence at Sea Oats Beach in Islamorada during the turtle nesting season. It blocked light from disorienting turtle hatchlings, possibly saving hundreds of endangered turtles.
